Mizuno - the japanese spirit in a modern version
History of the Mizuno brand
The roots of Mizuno brand date back to 1906. After his journey to the USA, Rihachi Mizuno, the founder of the brand became fascinated with American sport and opened a company selling baseball equipment in Japan. Over the next seven decades, he was working on expanding the product range offered by Mizuno by designing tennis, golf, skiing, athletics, boxing and football clothing.
From the very outset, Mizuno has put great emphasis on scientific research and methods improving manufacturing in order to meet customers’ requirements and provide them with the finest technological solutions. The constant search for the top-notch product led to a breakthrough in the 1980s, when the innovative Mizuno Wave Technology was developed. At the same time, the brand created its graphic emblem, the so-called RunBird symbolizing faith in the Japanese concept of a universal approach to sport which isn’t limited by space or energy.
Mizuno still focuses on conducting research and strives to manufacture top quality products helping athletes to constantly develop and break sports records.
In 2018, for the first time since the foundation, the company decided to combine the modern style with its stylish designs and created a brand new footwear category - Mizuno Lifestyle. Sneaking innovative accents into unique, stylish retro models contributed to the change of the designation and target group of the brand.
Mizuno is a Japanese heritage and the embodiment of the Japanese spirit in a modern version.
