The 30th anniversary of Asics Gel-Lyte III OG
The iconic gels are back. Exactly 30 years ago, the Japanese sports giant presented its flagship "ultimate performance" model - GEL Lyte III, which was designed by Shigeyuki Mitsui. This model is much lighter than its precursors on the market. Unsurprisingly, the Alpha-GEL technology implemented in 1986 ensures cushioning also in this series.
What are the characteristics of Asics Gel-Lyte III OG shoes?
One of the most characteristic features of GEL-Lyte III is a "double tongue" - an innovative solution that is supposed to ensure even better fit. When GL III were launched, they were hailed as the most technologically advanced running shoes available on the market. They ushered in a phenomenal era for the Japanese brand and for many other classic models which apply this technology. The titular unique “Citrus” color scheme is characteristic of the early 90’s aesthetics. The white, classic base was combined with turquoise side panels and lemon collar and tongue. The whole project is based on the white midsole accentuated with black and grey. The shoelaces and the logo on the side are also citrus.
The first relaunch of GL III took place in 2007. Its subsequent high position in the retro fashion sector was reinforced by numerous collaborations with companies such as Solebox and Ronnie Fieg (KITH). This year marks the 30th anniversary of the model which will certainly lead to launch of various new versions of GEL-Lyte III.
Asics GEL-LYTE III OG “Citrus” have been available in SneakerStudio since 15/11.
