Levi Strauss&Co - history
Levi Strauss&Co, the owner of the brand, is an American privately held company known mostly for denim clothing. It was founded in 1853 by a German immigrant who in the first years of the enterprise`s operations in San Francisco was working as a sales manager. The idea behind blue jeans is very simple. Strauss cooperated with his brother-in-law, who was a tailor and was buying pieces of cloth to reinforce torn pants. The tailor had an idea to include copper rivets to reinforce the points of stain: pocket corners or the base of the button fly. The first jeans were sold to gold miners and the production of denim overalls (blue jeans) was started in 1870s. The first pair of the famous Levis 501 was produced in the 1890s. Now you can buy also Levis t-shirts.
