Onitsuka Tiger

The start of Onitsuka Tiger Corsair is said to be in 1968, however the company started its operation in 1968. It was known as T-24 then. The shoes were made to allow the citizens of Japan to jog. What is more, those shoes were created by two designers: Phil Knight - who is known for his passion to running – and Bill Bowerman, a trainer and a runner. Not to mention that the duo later on set another popular sports brand, Nike. The support from Bowerman was meant to adjust the shoes to the requirements of the American market: different body shapes and the type of road surfaces. Taking the advice into account, the designers decided to use double-density foam (EVA) in the sole – a material that should protect runners more than the previous materials.
